Can you help me identify my Dodge RV?

I need to make the conversion from 16.5 wheels over to 16 inch wheels on my Dodge RV, but I need help identifying exactly which Dodge chassis I am working with so that I can start my search for new tires/wheels.

I know that it is a '77 Dodge Sportsman. The RV package is Sea Mar. Any help on how to figure out more?

  • I think you have 16.5 rims and NOT 16 inch rims (unless you changed them). 16 inch tires will not work on 16.5 rims. Not a lot of 16.5 tires out there.
  • That's a great looking oldie. Not many of them around any more in such good shape. Congrats on the find!

With a 77, the chassis will most likely be called a B300 not a 3500. You can verify a lot of info using the VIN decoder.

yes and google the chassis number.

What would be the benefit of having 17 instead of 16? I have 4 of the 7 tires (dually + spare) needed from an truck that wrecked. Was hoping to be able to use them and save a little $$ on tires.

17 is the new 16. Late model duallies have 17 inch rims, and 17 inch tires are readily available, whereas 16s are becoming harder to get in LT sizes.

  • I also have an older coach and am change from 16.5 to 16 2 at time. There are several aftermarket wheel companies. The one I can remember is Southwest Wheel. You are actually lucky. Dodge only used the one bolt pattern and offset for years. You should still look at the door tag for the vehicle type. You should be able to get them from a wrecker, but not guarantee that they will be good.

  • It should be a 3500 cab and chassis, or commonly called a cut away. Good luck finding wheels to fit. Have had friends search with no luck. The problem is the bolt pattern. You!might take one of the wheels to Willamette wheel in Portland and see what it will cost you to build a new set for you. BTW, I would go with 17 inch wheels.
