- ependydadExplorerI'll X1000 opnspaces recommendation of the Mighty-Tite. My wife (and I) are spastic about car seats being secure. When you rock the seat, we want the whole vehicle to move and there to be zero shifting. With regular seat belts, we can usually accomplish it with a lot of leaning, grunting, and pushing. On my in-laws 4Runner, we just couldn't work it out. She happened to pickup one of these Mighty-Tite contraptions and we were able to zero in the car seat so that it was fully secure.
- opnspacesNavigator III'm pretty sure all car seats will accept a standard automotive lap belt or lap/shoulder belt. Put the car seat in the normal seating position and buckle the seat belt. Now put your knee into the seat and use your body weight to press the child seat down and back into the seat and pull the seat belt tight.
I always hated doing that especially when I had to put the car seats in and out all the time. So I found one of these at Target. Link
The Mighty-Tite works just like any cargo ratchet strap. You just slide the belt into the slots on the mighty-tite. Then buckle the car seat into the seat belt leaving a bit of slack so you can actually buckle it.
Then just flip the red lever on the Mighty-Tite a few times and the seat will cinch down tight into the RV seat. It takes all of 3 minutes and you don't have to break a sweat to secure the car seats anymore. - tatestExplorer III drop the dinette table so that it is no longer a factor in "what hits what" and use the seat belt to tie down the child seat. All child safety seats in the U.S. rated for much more than 40 pounds have to be capable of being anchored with belts, because there is a weight limit for the "LATCH" system.
- Retired_VSPExplorer IIYes..seat belts at both couches and forward facing dinette
- opnspacesNavigator IIAre there existing adult seat belts in the positions that you want to install the child seats?
