city water hookup in campground

While on a camping trip this week we encountered a situation and wish to know how to handle this.
At the one campground for overnight, we pulled in and found that they only had one fresh water spigot for 2 sites. There was one camper already parked next to our space and had already hooked his water line to this spigot, which did not allow me to use the my water line.
I felt he should have used a (Y) on the spigot which would have allowed 2 campers to use the same spigot.
I knocked on his door and they were not home.
Needless to say I had no water for the night.
I know now I should fill my fresh water tank to eliminate this problem.
How would you have handle this situation?
Thank you, Dallas

  • Ditto on installing my Y. If they were not home I would have put mine on connected theirs back and all would be happy.

    Same here.
  • That is "Y" I always have water in my fresh water tank... :) I fill it to the brim, even when I know I'm going to a full hookup site...

"Y" do I do this you say?

Because I know I will always have water, no matter what happens when I get to my destination.

What about all that extra weight of the water I carry you say??

I don't really care.. I have a full tank of fresh water.. I don't have to care what else happens.. I'm not maxed out on my weights, so no worries for me.. :)

Just works for me and that's what I do.. I don't even hook up to the camp ground water and just use my own water most of the time.

Most camp ground water is very hard and what I wouldn't want in my rig anyway..

Don't judge.. Just do what works for you.

    Good luck!

  • Fill yours, put away your hose, reconnect his and move on. No need to go without water when they are not even there.

    yes. everyone needs a Y.

    Why?:h

    Sorry, couldn't resist.
  • I'm thinking the office was closed when you got there? Guess I need a (Y) now also. LOL

  • I would have:
    Knocked on their door....nobody responds

Then I would have disconnected the hose.....connected mine, filled my fresh water tank and then put theirs back on if I needed to put water in my tank.

I run off of Fresh Water tank/pump exclusively
    Travel with FULL Tank...always.
  • You could have put on "your" wye and you both would have had water
