Like others have mentioned it seems like dropping it off at a local police station may be the best thing. I would personally not try to physically deliver to a local address as I would be leary of a stranger.
I'm not sure that adding any additional information to a wallet would actually help it to be returned. I understand your question, but either way I think it is just pure luck that an honest person such as yourself will be the one to find it and try to return it.
I truly do appreciate your post, and just want to say thank you for trying to do the right thing. I've never lost my wallet, but this has made me think, what if ????
