Couple of questions, lights and stove hood vent

Just a couple of quick questions.
Just replaced lights with LED's but the outside light, by the door.
How do you get the cover off? The others I squeeze and they pop off but can't get hold of this cover to squeeze.
So far replaced 3 different kinds of bulbs, would be nice if they only used one kind, just a thought.
Second question, the outside vent where the hood vent goes outside.
There are two tabs to push to release the outside cover but push which way, they are not easy to push and I don't want to break them, plastic seems like it would be easy to break.
Thanks for any help.
  • Usually a screw driver will break it then you can blame it on the tool.Theye. get brittle with ag
  • I want to replace mine too. What LED bulb # did you use on the outside light?
  • Haven't gotten the outside light off yet.
Not sure what kind of bulb is inside.

I kind of did something differnt.. Ran 3 small screws into the side in the prescribed pattern and hung a LIGHT ANGEL (As Seen On TV item) it comes on when I approach the door, does well, eats dry cells though (So far still on the originals) and since I used screws not sticky tape when I again hit the road... It hits a storage box inside the RV only to get re-hung when needed.

How to get the cover off depends on the model of light.. Look carefully and you should figure it out.. I need eyes on to do it. Photos not of any help.

I used a very thin screwdriver to pry up on the bottom and it came right off. The bulb I want to replace with an LED is an 1141.
  • Thanks, always afraid with the plastic something will break.
Pleased with the LED lights so far. Just wish I didn't have to buy so many different sizes. That sounds like it may be another size to buy.
  • Danny I don't mean to be a smart a$$ but how about just getting a new lens? Your is 11 years old and it probably is pretty brittle and replacing it might be a good idea.

Good luck with your quest and happy camping.
  • A manufacturer called "RV H2O" makes a replacement stove vent with no hood, no tabs, nothing to break. (No I cant exactly describe it. Go look on the website under "new products".)

Not cheap, but a permanent, all metal, solution that you open and close with the awning hook.

You are not being smart and it were old I would replace it.
Bought new a little over a year ago. Not where the 11 years old came from, maybe something I said.
  • I just took my lens off last Sunday. 2009 Wildwood by Forest River to replace the bulb with a LED bulb. 2 small plastic tabs on top and 1 on the bottom. Used a small screwdriver to pry down carefully on each of the top 2 tabs and it popped right off. Bulb size was 1156. Of course every other bulb in the trailer was a 921 so I had to order a 1156. I got up on a ladder so I was eyeball to the light and it was easy to see the tabs which were not visible from the ground.
