- Playtime_IIExplorerPick up a cheap padded exercise mat (closed cell foam) (3'x6'x 1/2") and cut long-wise. A bungee cord wrapped around the pad and the bench at each end keeps them in place. Covers most of two benches and can be used to pad items in basement during travels or need something to lay/sit on to make connections/inspect stuff.

I agree! Plus most yoga mat is closed-cell foam - won't absorb liquids. I cut one up to use as kayak seat pads, plus a hunk is used to pad the hull I sit on while sailing my Hobie. - DiskDoctrExplorer

Bungees to hold it in place? - Playtime_IIExplorerSure. About an 18" bungee cord. Place over the pad and connect the hooks to each other under the bench seat.
- bennefimExplorerThanks everyone. Good information and suggestions.
