No, it doesn't have to be perfect, but some people can't stand to be out of level. I don't like it when water pools to the low side in the shower or kitchen sink. Fridges don't have to be perfectly level any more, either. I don't like the feeling of walking up or downhill, but some people don't seem to care. It's personal, you see.
