As nobody mentioned this...If you rent a drivable, you will need to unhook and take it with you if you want to run an errand or go sightseeing or visit tourist places.
Have you considered a pull behind? (end quote)

I have been considering it and I am unsure what I can handle.
When we go on our first RV trip over spring break (trying to figure out a fun campground right now- I'm thinking N or S Carolina or maybe Va Beach) we'll do the Cruise America C-class. If we have to go anywhere, we can just take it although it won't be convenient.
Then, for over the summer, I really want to try a travel trailer. Problem is, I have no idea how to rent one AND I don't have an appropriate vehicle- I drive a minivan. So not sure how to try that. The thing is, if we ended up BUYING an RV, it is most likely, IMO, that we would get a TT. I'm going to get a new (or new to us) car in a year or so, bc my son will be of driving age and I'll pass the van on to him (it'll have about 150k miles by then) so if I can *try* a TT, and if we love it, then I might have my next vehicle be something that can tow a TT and then get a used one instead of renting one for the cross-country trip. Does that even make any sense?! :)
Also, I am worried about how it feels to pull a TT. I've not ever tried it, but I am guessing there's some sway. Also, how do you back up using one?
