Fly to and from Vegas. There are several rental companies in vegas...just passed them as we are on the road now. Then rent from... Roadbearrv.com cruisamerica.com maybe one more.
Make sure rv has roadside assistance!
Perhaps get a smaller rv to use with two kids and you and then bring tent (hot) for kids to use so you can drive smaller rv?
Limit your driving to some degree and spend more time in places (equals less driving)...like Utah, Arizona.
Do you realize it is going to be bloody hot in these places...except maybe Colorado.
Reservations for national parks must be made early as possible.
Some state parks are just as nice as national parks and most likely less crowded.
Go for it. But do grab hubby and kids and rent on in Maryland for a test drive...do it several weekends.
There are always people at campgrounds that could give you advice too.
