- KRex-TampaExplorerOdds are in the the seller of the warranty. If they were not making money on them, deal or after dealer, they would not sell them. It works our for some people and if you don't have some cash available for a rainy day, then it might give you a little peace of mind. I personally vote for keeping the money for a rainy day and try to learn and do stuff yourself.
- greenskeeperExplorerYes, not a waste of money, bought it for my 2001 truck........$2200.00.........negotiated the price down from $3200.00, first bill was $1800.00, all new injectors, 2 new manifolds, new exhaust pipe.....2 nd time new turbo.....$1100.00 and last time another manifold to the tune of $1000-00, more than payed for itself. No ded.........with the cost of labor and how complicated the new rigs are...( just lift the hood and see if you can find anything that looks like it did 15 yrs ago ) you will see why I will buy another one the next time we purchase ..............
- myredracerExplorer IIEW = waste of money. Read the fine print. Things that are covered don't usually break and things that do aren't covered. The things that do typically break can often be fixed yourself or don't cost that much to fix. These plans are big money makers for the providers and/or dealer. Keep your $$ and go buy some nice RV accessories instead.
Our TT has a factory 2-year warranty but doesn't cover things like appliances and other components after year 1. Our TT insurance policy covers appliances between year 1 and 2 from date of purchase of TT tho.
Even if some things should be covered under warranty, you can still end up with a fight to get them fixed and sometimes will even get denied and some things you *think* should be covered aren't, such as exterior caulking that fails in less than a year. - allen8106Explorer

Only if you negotiate one from a third party that has no vested interest in the sale of the unit. Extended warranties are a scam used by auto dealers and camper dealers to pad the bottom line. They have about 1000% mark up. A $2000 extended warranty can be had for a fraction of the cost if you shop for it separately after the purchase.
i bought it and used it on my last 5er after the 4th year and I bought the extended warranty from the dealer thru whatever company. It paid for itself in one claim and mine had a ZERO deductable.
It's insurance and that's the bottom line, you either believe in it or you don't, you can afford it or you can't, you think its a waste of money or you don't. Bottom line on a new purchase it's not gonna hurt your deal at all. I thought it was a no brainer
I agree that they are useful and I like having them. I just don't believe in buying them through the dealer because they mark up the price a tremendous amount, 300%-400%. A $2000 extended warranty can be had for $300-$500. - abc40kidsExplorer

On my vehicles I buy the extended warranty offered by the maker only, on a RV they only got me one time.

Yep. Really not too hard to search for 'extended warranty'. Some things ARE hard to find, but not this subject.
and how few people use the search feature. :B Right, 2oldman? :B
That said, I don't really care how many times questions are asked. There are plenty of posters who will answer. - beemerphile1Explorer
