Filling fresh water tank question

I know you're not "supposed" to use a regular garden hose to fill fresh water but we all drank from one as a kid and nothing happened to us. My fresh water hoses are too short to reach the spigot at my home so what if I use a garden hose to reach out to the trailer then filter the water with a Camco TastePURE Water Filter before it enters into the trailer? Water I drink while camping is filter again via a Brita filter.
  • White RV hoses are supposed to be lead-free, though I've seen garden hoses advertised as "drinking water safe."
Hoses are relatively inexpensive - why not buy another RV hose?
  • We use a garden hose that's connected directly to our water softener.
  • Lol
Last I checked a fresh water hose is just a white garden hose not a magical water conveying device.....
  • filling the fresh tank with it is no big deal, you can run some water through to flush it out before you fill.
the trouble with the typical garden hose is when you use it for your "city water" hook up, the hose sits in the sun filled with water and leaches chemicals from the hose while you are out of the RV all day... when you return and turn on a tap the water will be loaded full of man boob causing BPA for example.
