First time full hookup site

We are not beginners at RVing, but this summer we will be staying for the first time at a park with full hookups (a five day stay only). For our waste tank dumping we've previously just used the blue slinky hose and used the dump station's lid (or whatever it's called) to hold the hose in place.

Should I be purchasing a 'better' hose, and do I need an adapter to hold the slinky in the hole? We know to not dump until the tank is mostly full.

    Most all RV parks require either a threaded connection or a rubber donut. Sometimes the even if the park has threaded connections they are poorly placed and the rubber donut and your threaded piece won't fit. CAUTION if using the rubber donut and then inserting your threaded connection make sure you secure it with something heavy. They have been known to disassemble when opening the tank handles.

    Some local ordinances require a threaded connection. I have encountered several.

    Call the park and ask what the requirements are.

    We use this type of sewer hose. It will screw into the camp ground's pipe. and be secure.

    no heavy rock required.

    We use a Rhino sewer hose. The end has a stepped three different size threaded end. Many parks have threaded sewer connections. But many also simply have a plain PVC pipe. Most of the time the Rhino will simply push into the PVC pipe and one of the three steps will provide a tight enough seal. But I also carry a sewer donut for those cases where it will not.

    Yes, and yes. However, as mentioned, a "better" hose (like the Rhino mentioned above) doesn't need any additional adapters. Rhino is even available at Walmart and you can get "extensions" of different lengths to fit without any modifications.

    An additional plus to using a stinky slinky like this is that it is a "closed system"... meaning if all connections are tight, no odors or leakage will occur. Makes for happy neighbors.

    Your current hose is okay, you do need to get a L shaped adapter to screw on the end for placing into the dump at your campsite.

    I've never seen one of those that didn't leak.

    We just spent a couple nights at the Famcamp at Malmatrom AFB.
    Our elbow adapter did not leak.
    However, I did learn to not tighten the hose connectors fully when putting the hose away. After several months of being put together tightly, they stick, and are VERY difficult to take apart!

    Our Camco Revolution hoses and 'L' adapter don't leak. Been using them since 2013.

    For the OP: For those situation where the dump port isn't threaded, I carry a sandbag that's sold for adding trunk weight in the winter. It drapes over the hose end and holds it in place.
