First Time owner.

Make sure that your "old leak" is not a new "old leak".

Then make sure again.

Eternabond and Dicor Self Leveling Lap Sealant are your best friend when it comes to RV roof maintenance. A small leak can cause a lot of damage if not repaired quickly.

Do a lot of reading on the forum. Use the search block and/or just post questions on the forum. Someone will have the answer.

The 12 Volt Side of Life will help you understand your RV's electrical system.

There is a lot to learn but, it's not difficult. The important thing is, don't hesitate to ask questions. The vast majority of RVers are happy to help someone with their rig.

Well Jerry welcome to the Forums. It can be a real exciting membership with one or two somewhat curt folks in the mix. For the most part the forums are a vast source of knowledge. I think the comment about selling your rig and taking a write off may be a little hasty but has a modicum of truth to it. Leaks are the bain of RVs and it might behoove you to have it checked out. Personally I think it's a great opportunity to break into the RVing world and experience live on the road.

Two great bits of advice you have received are read the 12 volt Side of Life and there are some great videos on youtube.

Not knowing your background and how much of the repair and maintenance you're willing to take on, it's hard to suggest you by this tool or that tool or read this book or that one. As we get to know you, we will learn what suggestions to make to help you out.

At this point, I would suggest you learn everything you can about the day to day maintenance of both the house and the chassis. There are a lot of things to keep track of. Remember to carefully inspect your batteries. Make sure connections are clean and tight, learn the difference between an Inverter and a Converter, learn where the converter is and where the AC and DC breakers and fuses are. Search the web for manuals for anything you don't have one for. Read the stickies under each Forum heading. Learn how to post photos and how to put one in your signature and read what ever you can find regarding your rig and features.

Please learn to use the Preview button in the tool bar at the top the this box, don't be like me, post and then correct. They had me broken of that habit but I'm back doing it again.

I don't think there is anything wrong with correcting your post. I do a lot of correcting (edit post) because Apple is "correcting" my words.

If you are accessing this forum using the address www.rv.net, you will eventually notice that you cannot make a post with a % character in it. Some other punctuation marks also cause an error. Many of us access the same forum using the address forums.goodsamclub.com, signing in with the same username and password.

Photos may be shown in a post very easily using the website http://photoposting.is-great.net/?i=1. Just drag your picture file to the empty box on that page (or on a phone or tablet click the "choose" button. Then copy the link it displays and paste into the post where you are writing.

Making a link in a post that is live to click on is easy but must be done in the "advanced posting mode" which has an icon with a chain link on a globe for creating a www link.

One thing confuses me though.
The RV is set up for a 50 amp connection from the factory. (labels and a 50 amp converter),but it has a 30 amp shore line.

First, this was a very good place to start.
Next, The 30 Amp (3 pin) shore power and the 50 converter have very little to do with each other. The 30 Amp is at 120VAC and the converter is for the 12VDC.
And, before you go anyplace, spend at least the first night in your own driveway.
