You probably do need a truck with higher payload capacity but for the limited amount of towing you do, I think you should stick with it. I recommend looking at the tires on it. P rated? Way too light, try changing to E rated and don't be afraid to put air in them when towing. My Ram 2500 has E rated tires but when not towing I run around with 50psi because it softens the ride a lot. Changed your shocks lately? If not, buy quality, it's a major handling improver for not much moola. You might also look into a gizmo called StableLoad. They work. Using diesels for short trips is hard on them, they like to run long and under heavy load so they run hot enough to not build up soot.
