Howdy breeves2245, I'm a fulltimer that is also a full-time employed software guy. I have ZERO experience living this life east of the Mississippi - nearly all my time is spent along the continental divide (AZ, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, WY). With that said, working via the Internet is amazingly easy these days due to cellular data.
Here is a thread I started a couple days ago regarding where I am currently working:

Here in the west, Verizon easily has the best coverage - not sure about other places. So, I have a Verizon 12 Gb data plan, phone, and tablet. I also have a Wilson (now weBoost) cellular amplifier and an external antenna on a long pole.

I have to be a little conservative with large downloads so I make a run to a public wifi (McDonalds, Starbucks, etc.) for that.
I don't spend much time in campgrounds/RV parks - mostly boondocking. Due to work, I tend to relocate on weekends and I must be sure I have a decent Internet connection when doing so. Yes, I have found some fabulous spots but been unable to stay as their is no cellular signal - always a bummer.
Afraid I can't help with the camper/trailer decision - it is whatever works for you. If doing lots of boondocking, lots of water/holding capacity is very helpful as is a large battery bank and solar.
