head sets

Cell phones can sometimes have a decent delay. The Voxer app sounds interesting.

I have not used headsets though I had a vox-operated headest for one of my two way hand helds (Actually it works with 3 of 'em but my wife is not licensed for the other two) I may some day get another.

Have used cells and push to talk

Recommend both.. Where it works I put my cell in the cup holder, call wife, put on speaker and we talk

Where it did not work,,, Hand held push to talk 2 ways.

Alas. now days I park it myself.

As I said, the "voxer" app for the iPhone lets you use the phones like walkie talkies without service - it uses the WiFi ability of the phones.

Apple's Facetime may even be better. The outside navigator could also use the phone as a camera.

Soon to be on the back of my truck and trailer are backup cameras with microphones. I guess we'll see how long I can tolerate Her Highness's voice commands but I'm guessing it won't be long before the volume is off. I love the little Polish Princess to death but we can't even carry a box into the house together without a breakdown in communication. ;)

We have been using RV Headsets for the past three years and love them. Yes, hand signals, cell phones, walkie-talkies, etc. will all do the job and we have used them all but find the RV Headsets to be the easiest to use and most useful. They are not without drawbacks (local radio playing through then for one) but we have found them so much better than the other options. You can talk in a normal voice, hands-free, and have the ability to talk and hear at the same time. They are expensive but we feel well worth it.

Cheap & nasty FSR handhelds. She talks. I listen. She is the boss. There is no confusion over left or right. Whose left. Whose right. The sides are referred to as port & starboard. no confusion. Simple hand signals get used too. No frantic jumping up & down waving arms like a chicken trying to fly. Simple pointing & signals that you might see on a construction site are enough.

A basic trick is to stand where she wants a rear corner of the trailer to stop.

I'm afraid that we are very boring to watch.

Plain simple hand signals.

well i guess i didnt mention we are new to this and one of us will be standing in the back ,,,side,,,its a 36 ft winnie vista,,,and she can hear me from the speaker but i cant hear her of course . so we decided to look into hands free system to scream at each other ,,,,you know the privacy thing ,,,oh and a tip ,,,if you see us parking ,,,,,give us a day to calm down ,,,, lol

Or you could go a whole different way. After you both check the area for obstructions (low and high), have the spotter stand where you want the rear corner of the RV to be. Adjust your mirrors so you can always see spotter. If you can't see spotter, stop. Get out of truck and see what the problem is.

No confusing signals, no yelling.
