How limiting are the longer RVs?

What I'm getting from reading along is that the closer you get to 38ft. and beyond you are limiting yourself on the amount of places you can camp. How large of a problem is this? Can anyone give me an example of a place you would have liked to have camped at (awkward sentence structure) but couldn't because it wasn't feasible?

Thank you!

  • Hum. O.k. I'm glad I asked. The TH we are looking at has a generator. So if only 35 watts use generator? Can you run the generator all night?

Going to read up on generators now....
  • Campgrounds with 50 amp service and sewer hookups are rare. When found they usually are known as "RV Parks". If you want to camp, anything approaching 40' will limit your options. If you want to stay in RV parks no problem. A campground with a dump station should eliminate the "need" for "full" hookups... assuming you have a black tank. :C
  • Not that I wanted to camp there, but when I was looking at campgrounds near Cape May, NJ - there was one that had a 30' or 35' limit or something. I just looked at the many alternatives.

That's it for me. We're more of travelers/RV'ers than "campers", so I'm not looking for an incredible nature experience when we travel.
  • We have a 40 footer and have not have any problems finding a camping spot. Maybe at tiny Camp grounds, which probably have no sewer hook up and no 50amp service.
