How often do you weigh?

Just picked up new TT and am taking it to the local CAT scale this weekend for first weigh (I am familiar with the procedure :) )

My question actually is how often do you weigh your rig? Once? Once per season? Each trip?

Since I'm weighing it loaded for camping I don't anticipate the weights changing much between trips but I'd like to know what the experts do. :)

Thanks in advance and safe travels!

Each long (4 to 8wks once per year) trip when I hit the first FJ/Pilot, Truck stop to fill up. I'm so close (within 100 to 150lbs) of max GAWR on both the TV and TT I want each max wt (i.e. with full fuel) documented and known.

Once, sometime after we get a new trailer, if I get the chance. ;) For those that don't it's pretty easy to ballpark any trailer's GVW loaded & ready to camp by simply noting the unit's sticker weight as delivered to the dealer, adding the weight of a battery or batteries, propane, any water in the tanks, plus an estimate of the weight of all additional cargo added. I can see some perhaps wanting to weigh each season, just to check, but "each trip"? - hardly. :R FAR more important is to check your trailer's average gross tongue weight to assure it's sufficient AND to understand clearly how much tow vehicle payload capacity you have to work with so you're not exceeding that.
  • Weighed empty when I bought it. Made modifications and weighted it loaded on our way out of town. Now I keep an eye on not letting stuff accumulate and even try to shed weight whenever I can.
  • Never. I know the weight when delivered, use the GAWR for tire pressures, don't carry a lot of water, and there's very little I do carry that I can not take. But if I did weigh, just once would do.
  • Once when I first bought them and on first load.

    6V batteries
    Propane filled
    Fresh water full
    Pantry, and food loaded.
All other things that is used in travels.

Not sure I see a reason to do it more than that.

I only scaled my Rig once, as you said, I load almost exactly the same way every trip.
