I use a homebuilt wood ramp on the good tire to raise the flat one, and consider it more stable than my bottle jack. The ramp can also be used to "lock up" the flat tire to loosen those bolts. I'm undecided regarding your suggestion about spraying WE40. Did you have sufficent leverage?
Nadkaw, I suggest you change a tire realistically at home for practice. No need whatsoever to do it in the rain, wind, dark, cold, hot however. Then you will be ready for changing a tire...in the rain etc. Very comforting to know you will have no issue with the TT tires if one goes flat.
