How to go with the flow but restricted by reservations?

We have traveled across the U.S.and Canada mostly without reservations and we always managed to find a place to stay.

You'll find that you're more likely to find a place to stay without reservations Sunday through Thursday. When we spend extended time on the road during the summer, we try to book reservations just for the weekend as we travel if we are going to be in a popular area. You'll also find out is much easier to get a spot in a private RV park than in public campgrounds during high season.
