Inspection with GoodSam RV Financing

Hi All,

Does anyone know what the inspection that GoodSam performs (through 3rd party) on an RV during the RV financing loan process? In short, we are hoping to finance the RV we intend to purchase. GoodSam will perform an inspection. If their inspection includes everything we want it to include, we won't also pay for an additional inspection. But, if it doesn't, we will pay for an additional one. My husband and I have both had difficulty obtaining this information from their customer service. We would like to know because whether we purchase the RV or not is contingent on what we learn from an inspection and we also don't want to pay for two if we don't need to. Thanks!
  • X3 get your own financing ,you,ll save thousands. not hard thing to do. talk to your bank. the dealer would be getting a huge check if they do the financing .. p.s thats your thousands.
  • You might do a google search for GS financing reviews and horror stories.
I would not use them for anything.

Totally agree - finance through your financial institution, and get an inspection that will actually give you worthwhile info.
  • Always get your own comprehensive inspection. A finance company's inspection will be minimal just assuring the RV exists, the VIN matches what is on the loan documents, and it is not some abandoned derelict RV. They don't care if the plumbing leaks or if the A/C or refrigerator works.

  • When we sold one of our MH's a few years ago the buyers went through GS and they ordered an inspection. It was NOT comprehensive. Basically they are ensuring the RV actually exists and is in the shape as advertised and worth what the bank will lend for. It is not like a PDI or any other thorough inspection by an RV mechanic. I would still get a full inspection by a competent person if you don't feel you can do it yourself. But don't rely on GS's inspection. It's to the secure the loan - very different.
  • Are you buying the RV from a 3rd party and just getting Good Sam's financing?

If this is so, then it's reasonable. Their money will be on the limb with the RV. Don't see why they'll conduct two. Simply schedule it after you've installed every bells, whistles and options you want.

If you are buying it from them, then there is no reason for inspection fee. They charge for prep fees though since they do reasonable cleaning and test to check of all gardens and appliances are in good order before the hand over of the unit to you.
