Is a Cover Worth It?

Hello all, new to forums and a RV newbie. We just bought an '06 Thor Jazz that is in excellent condition. We live in California in the Northern Mojave, so the sun is beating down on the RV a lot.

Can I have your thoughts on whether to use a cover for the 5th wheel? I'm ok with spending the extra money if it will help prevent sun damage. Or...are they really cumbersome and difficult to install and remove when we take the Jazz out? Thanks in advance.

  • IMO, no, a cover is not worth it.
There are many different styles and prices for carports that can be adapted to fit over an RV. If you feel the sun is an issue (and it may well be, I don't know), take a look at a carport cover. It will protect the RV, and will not tear in any "normal" wind like a fabric cover will. It also will not rub on the paint of the RV like a fabric cover will. It WILL, of course, need to be firmly anchored to the ground!
