Or uses a cable slide system, by doing this there units are typically 1000 pounds lighter than the competition. By using the cable slide there is no need for a drive shaft mechanism to operate the slides. There is no need to drill a large hole in the center of the beam (main frame support). Since the beam does not require a drive shaft hole, a smaller beam can be used to accommodate the weight of the trailer. Net result is a lighter trailer.
Yes there were initial growing pains when the accu slide cable system was first introduced, however most of the bugs have been worked out and the techs in the field have become familiar with the system.
Nevertheless the cables do occasionally break and require adjustments. Replacement cable kits are sold on Amazon.
In the end the cable systems work fine, they are no better or worse than the traditional shaft driven system in terms of reliability. Both systems have motors, gears and moving parts that wear break or need adjustment. The real unmentioned bonus is the cable slide systems allow for reduced weight trailers.
My 5 slide 5'er has required one cable adjustment in 3 seasons. I did the adjustment myself with the help of an on line manual.
