The reason you carry a kit is because they are simple enough to fix, however without the kit you are going to be dead in the water. You may even get your RV to a dealer that also may not have a kit.
You could easily find yourself stuck for days waiting for a kit. As I mentioned the kits are available on Amazon.
As to construction Jayco use 2"x3" wood joist on 16" centers with 5/8 T&G plywood vs. OR's metal joist 12" OC with 1/2 plywood.
We could debate all day long which technique is better. But in the end they a relatively equal with no clear cut winner.
