Leveling Clarification

Okay, I am looking at getting these, but I'm a little confused about what we would need.

We have two wheels on each side. So, if we need to raise say, the rear of the RV an inch, I will need 24 of the blocks, to make 4 of the setups as they show it, using 6 blocks?

Thanks! Jules
  • For leveling, try these. Love em, easy, strong, easy. did I say they are easy to use!

Arggh, can't get the link to attach here. Anderson levelers

We might never need them out at campgrounds, but now that we got it here, we know we need them on the driveway here. So, if I am understanding right, we are going to need to use them on all four of the beach tires. It is backed in, and the rear needs to be leveled up to even it with the front of the RV.

So, there are ten in each bag, and each tire will require six of the squares, if I set it up the way they have it pictured on Amazon. So it sounds like I will need three sets.

Edit.... Never mind, just saw you are in a class C, not a TT or 5er.
  • I have tried the Lego Block types and they seem to always break and they are not cheap when you have to carry 2 bags or more to get both of the duels uo at one time.

The making of and carrying around the wood type is also a pain, I did that for years.

I found a cheaper and easier way to get level with These Ramps I carry 4 and have yet to find a need for more.

BTW your signature will not show more than once on a page.

It shows once on this page but what is a 2104 Class C........:B
  • Just checking to see if I have a signature now.

Edit: Signature appears in my first post, but not the others. Not sure why.

Let me describe what I use.
First, measure the width of the tread on the tires and then add 1/2 inch to that, then go to the next board size (width)

IE: if tread measures 9 inches, 1/2 inch is 9 1/2 inches, next standard board width is 10 inches, so use 2x10's

    First
    Second step
    Third wooden step

First step is a foot long (In my case it's 2 x 12's by the way
    Second step is 2 feet
    third is 4 feet

Stack them and drill down, through them so as to stick a couple dowel rods down the holes (I drilled down through the 2nd step into the third, then flipped them and drilled the same holes into teh top, then cut the dowel so it stuck up out of the 2nd step about an inch when fully inserted.

Slather the bottom of the 2nd step with wood glue, lay it on top of the bottom step and insert dowels in holes,

Slather bottom of top step lay it over the dowels and tap down with rubber mallet.. Jack up towed and set it on top of the stick to Clamp.

My second set has only the two bottom steps.

That way I can put I am considering a 3rd pair when I get the engine fixed.

Lay in front or behidn tires, back up or pull head to level.. NOTE> DO NOT drive off the high end. (Im considering a stop board there.

    ON EDIT:

Just realized you have a Class C?????

To raise backend of rig you will need to have blocks under all 4 rear tires

To raise front end of rig you will need blocks under both front tires

To level side to side you will need to have blocks under front/rear tires on low side

Always post what you have OR fill out 'signature' so info will be at bottom of your post so folks know what you ar asking about

Thanks OB! I filled out the rig info in my profile, but it doesn't show up in the signature part. I will try again.
  • If you need to raise the rear of the RV, use the tongue jack (for a TT) or the landing gear (for a 5th wheel) to do that. The blocks you linked to are used for side to side leveling, you only use them on one side of the RV.
For what its worth I have never needed more than one bag of blocks for leveling side to side. The tallest I have had to stack is 3 high. I just placed 2 blocks in front of that to build the ramp, used all 10 blocks that time.

With that said I do carry 3 bags of these things. I generally use the other 2 under the rear stabilizer jacks so they don't have to extend so far and are more stable.

EDIT: Looks like I was typing the same time Old Biscuit was :)
