Levelling - How Many Tires?

With my double axle if I only need 1 inch I only put a board under one wheel.

I also have a 3 axle unit and I raise all three. I do have a pack of plastic blocks to use but they don't really help enough. So far every trip we have fire wood in the back of the truck and it is split wood. I pull out three pieces that meet the height I need and use them. It keeps me from hauling more stuff and so far works perfect. I have tire jacks between the tires to keep it from rolling off. So far this method has worked perfect. I am sure there is some reason I am not supposed to use firewood but it has worked for me. I also don't get my unit perfectly level. As long as the water goes down the drain it is fine for my needs. Just a thought if you have fire wood.

Newmar used dual tandems on their upper end London Aire and Mountain Aire fifth wheels for many years. I don't think they are still making 5th wheel trailers though - only motorhomes.

Never seen a 5er with duals.

A lot depends on HOW much leveling.. If using 2x4's you can level One wheel, Two Wheels or all 3, But I'd keep all 3 axles within 2 inches of each other leveling wise.

On most trailers, the suspension largely equalizes the load. Putting a block under one tire does not increase the load on that one tire (unless you are going to an extreme to where the suspension linkages cannot adjust- emphasis on extreme.)

AND, sometimes putting one block under all the tires causes too much correction.

Should not part of the answer be , are they torsion axles ? The older self leveling axles will distribute the weight different !

If you only support one tire IT is taking all of the weight normally taken by three. I say go for three AND support the entire footprint of all three tires.

Just don't leave any tires not touching the ground/blocks.
