Having been in & out of hundreds of CGs now & read the claim that the motorhome is quicker than the towable for set up & departure, plus watched more than a few times as the motorhome comes in, stops to disconnect the toad, fusses with backing in as much as a towable, levels up by pushing buttons, or manually, hooks up utilities just like a towable then gets his toad parked. By the time all is said & done, there really is not much time difference. What is the rush anyway?
On departure the procedure is reversed, usually with more time hooking up the toad.
I have yet to see a motorhome driver get up for a potty break while going down the highway. He has to stop, just like the towable driver. Fast food? How wise is it for the passenger to be loose in the coach at 65mph? We pack a small cooler with snacks & drink & it rides within arms reach.
So why is a motorhome claimed to be better for the traveler & the towable better for the seasonal or weekend camper? We are seldom in one spot more than 2 or 3 nights with our 5er. The cg arrival & departure rituals are simply part of what the lifestyle is.
