more questions! FR mini lite 2509s, 233s, or others?
Sorry I keep revisiting similar topics on different parts of this forum!
I have an expedition w the hd tow pkg. There will be 6 of us riding in it. Four kids 11 and under who will grow, I know. planning on weekends in ga mountain state campgrounds, with a week at the beach and occasional fort wilderness/disney trip. DH used to popup camp across the country but idk when we'll have time for that kind of thing. so mostly the weekends three seasons with a couple week-long trips per year.
I had narrowed down to the 233s Rockwood/shamrock hybrid. Then found the 2509s mini lite. Is it too heavy? Haven't actually weighed the vehicle w kids in it. Honestly there's a stone store nearby but not quite sure what to ask them to weigh! If you can tell me I'll go weigh!
Then I read posts that say "I'd never buy Forest River" for many quality reasons. I can't afford a Lance. What other short, lightweight options with quality will sleep 6 in beds (don't want to set up dinette every night if I can help it)? and yes I agree I will have to compromise!
Camper needs to be on the shorter side because it will park in our driveway. Plus weight is an issue obviously. I don't care if new or used. But not too old preferably as I'm understanding these lightweight campers don't really have longevity.
Are there campers I should look at? Is the 233s the best fit? I've read about bubbling roofs on the mini lites. Also I would consider Jayco and I'm drawn to the 23b but I think I really like it because it's kind of a classic in my mind having been around for so long. But yeah I'd have to put kids on the dinette every night. Or we could do something with less beds but more room and put a couple of cots on the floor.
DH wants a camper that's easy to pull and park. He's used to tents and a popup so luxury not a factor. I'm kind of wimpy and will be sitting in camper/at camp while he and kids hike/fish/explore so if I have somewhere to set up a sewing machine or read, I'm good. But I don't want to stay home; I want to go too!
Advice? Want to buy in the next month if we can so we can get camping!
