Must I have a toad with a 27' Class C?

It's a personal choice.

With a 28ft rig, you may need to park further out in a parking lot, or further down the road for a small town "main street".

You will need to put things away in order to drive out of camp - depending on how much you have, that could be a pain.

Parking in a big city could be problematic, but you could counter that by parking at a subway or bus station outside the city and commuting into the city.

Some scenic overlooks may be a bit tight.

On the good side, you'll always have your own bathroom handy. :)

I’ve only been at this for a little over 3 decades so bear with my, I’m still learning.

If I need to get something or go somewhere the odd time I didn’t want to break camp, the cost of a rented car or taxi (now Uber, Lyft, etc, etc) which comes to you, is nothing compared to the cost of dragging a toad around ‘just in case’…….

In fact when I do make a day trip somewhere, I far prefer to take m/h, I’ve never yet seen a toad with recliners, a kitchen and washroom.

For us, a toad is a must, regardless of mh size. Great for site seeing, going to the store without breaking camp. What made us go with a toad was a breakdown. Mh had to be towed to for a repair, wife had driven her car. MH went left to the repair shop we went right to our home. It takes 5-10 minutes to hook or unhook, but time well spent for peace of mind.

Must you have a towed. Short answer NO
But taking down to run to the store for a quart of milk or a loaf of bread is a major pain in the operating system.

I'm at 28'5" and have no problems with size

My Tioga 26Q is 27 FT and I have had no problems going where I wanted in the more than ten years that I have traveled with this RV.

Including shopping malls,older State Campgrounds,even sporting events and amusement parks.

While touring Wine Country out here I was a bit worried about getting to the Wineries and parking,until I was at one and another RV my size was there.

He told me not to worry,if they shipped UPS. If they could go there then you can,that was his rule of thumb for where ever he went :B:B

I chuckle at the B Sprinters towing a small car…seems like it’s more than 1/3rd of them. So much for a small rig being the way to go without a toad. At 6’4” I’ve turned around in the first 5’ of many a MH because of no ceiling clearance. And these small cars they are towing… would hate to hit even a deer as it’s coming in the windshield. Good news, a mouse might go completely over the car.
We can go a week dry camping without cutting back and 10+ days using paper plates and catching the cold water in the shower before it gets warm. Good luck on going smaller having recently upgrading from 42’ to 45’ and loving it.
PS: I take it into shopping centers and whichever station has the cheapest diesel. Also stay mainly in USFS CGs for $10 during the summer.
PSS: This summer out West was not as busy as last summer.

We have a truck camper, 26' long on the truck, and can access just about anywhere. I think 27' is plenty short, especially since you'll have side entry.

Are you sure that you want to break camp any time you want to go somewhere? I certainly wouldn't, and as such tow a Jeep.

Most places? It all depends on your choices. Many supermarket parking lots, yes, but parking downtown for a restaurant? Probably no. All Walmarts. Breaking camp to just go to town…no fun.
