My "new" $2000 RV

Me and my fiancee drove over the hill yesterday to Reno to get this thing. So far so good, it made the 100 odd mile trip back without so much as a hiccup.. Sorta. Turns out the headlights don't work. We had to stop last night, and this morning when I tried to start it she decided to give me issues. Anytime I put it in gear it would die. Finally got it into gear and going. After it warmed up we had no issues. Think the butterfly valve is sticking.

Aside from that a small valve on the side needs to be replaced and it needs a water heater.

Exterior pictures.

  • Change the fuel filters and see if that helps keep it running when placed in gear.
  • nuget102, you have a couple good parts store close, both DeMartini and Camping World are pretty good if in a hurry for parts.

By the way, welcome to the forums and for some reason your pictures aren't coming through in the correct size.

Read the sticky in the "Technical Support" forum. I've found it easiest to have a short cut to the posting site and to put your fotos on your desk top, that way you can "drag and drop" them and when you attach them they resize them automatically size them.

If you've got a Chevy chassis, several folks say the quadrajet carb is easy to rebuild.

    Anyway good luck.
  • It IS, in fact, a GM chassis. (The 5-lug front wheels are the tipoff.) OK, it's a 1987...it could have a TBI engine (1987 was the first year), or a carb'd engine (they ran until 1990 in P-chassis).

A carb'd engine could have several fuel filters...one or two on the frame, and probably one at the carb.
  • Sprayed a can of sea foam and it helped with the stalling quite a bit. However, when I moved it the other day (it was over 100) it kept stalling. I'm guessing it was overheating, which I kinda expected. I think I may need another can or two of sea foam but like I said, it starts a lot freaking easier and doesn't stall nearly as much.

Also I'm on a phone so drag and drop... not an option lol. Currently no wifi.

I'll be sure to change the fuel filter and what not. But at the moment my main worry is getting one of the two generators running.

If its carburated motor you might want to check all ruber hoses for cracks and subsequent vacuum leaks..
Also adjust the choke when the engine is cold!

I read this as, '...a case or two of sea foam.' :B

I think you are doing a great job.
