So you're going to be full timing and homeschooling your kid in your house on wheels. Get the biggest camper you can afford. Even big ones get small after a while.
And if you're not a good shade tree mechanic then converting, renovating and upkeep on old iron will become very costly.
Personal vote for efficiency of cost and utility is a TT or 5ver and a good pickup. You can spend most of your $ on the tow vehicle and camper trailers are dime a dozen and easy to upgrade when the time comes.
And yes $20 k won't buy you a very new hd pickup of any flavor but Imo that is what you should spend the $ on.
