The safest vehicle for a CHILD to be riding in, is a large SUV or truck, with their baby-seat anchor points and side air bags. If that's your primary concern, then I agree with others who have said get a trailer (or a truck camper). There IS one more alternative (but they're harder to find): a Class C built on a 4-door TRUCK body. I think "Host" builds some - I'm not familiar with other brand names.
