I agree with JimK-NY: Get the smallest rig you feel reasonably comfortably in IF you prefer, as I do, NPs, NFS, COE & BLM campgrounds. Get solar, too. If you like RV parks in towns, get a bigger rig.

The OP is correct that a truck or SUV and small, lightweight travel trailer is the best bang for the buck.
