Who wants a tiny little under powered Q when you can have a real grill.
Calling a Q "under powered" simply means you don't understand how this grill, with it's porcelain coated cast iron grill, works. :R The smaller Q100 / Q120 / Q1200 series has an 8500 BTU burner, the next size up Q200 / Q220 /Q2200 has a 12,000 BTU burner by design because that's all that's needed for these grills to cook efficiently. I would likewise then ask - why waste gas on a grill that uses so much more gas than a Q? :S
Our "under-powered" Weber Q1200 really heats up fast and if not careful heats way up to 400+F and will overcook or burn stuff in no time. It's BTU rating is not an indication of how well it performs. It's almost way too much BTU even turned to low. The compact shape is very efficient and radiates heat from the enclosure back onto the food more evenly plus it does a good job of retaining moisture in the food. Never understood why so many people rave about them until we got one.
As I say guys. The folks we camp with also bragged about their Q until they saw mine cook. Now, We all use mine when we camp together. they only use their to heat veggies. So y'all use your little grill. I'll use my normal size, and we will all be happy.
BTW. The double burner heats the grill to 650. Great for searing the flavor into steaks.
Question. Do y'all use that little grill at home as well? I normally need more grill space than it has. Mine has 260SQ inch as opposed to the 180 SQ inch Q. and it takes up no more room for storage.
I guess the Qs are good grills. i just think they are well over priced for what they do. I'm just not real big on paying an extra $50 or $100 or so for a name.
