I need a new awning I was thinking about putting on a powered one. Ideas as to if this is a good idea and I like to find the best price for one not nesacerally the cheapest

Our newer RV came with elec awning. After 3 seasons we still don't like it. Wish we still had the manual type, like we had on all of our other RV's. Doesn't tip down far enough, depending on the sun. But does provide shade mostly at 12 noon. Just another elec motor to wear out. Only thing good is all you have to do is mash a button to operate. What about one day when you mash the button and it don't come in? When deployed, look how high they are off the ground. But when I had to order a new part, the OEM manufacture (Care free) provided quick service and was good to deal with.

Yes I knew all that about the holes and location I was just thinking for what I have looked at I can spend a few more hundred dollars which is a lot to me but a power my wife would be able to handle it and I be doing to work myself so I make sure all was doing right not that someone else would not do it right but I would feel better

had a power awning replaced on our first MH about 4 years ago due to some damage and it was about $1000.

My awning has finally bit the UV dust on my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer. They are sure expensive to replace.

I am going the WALMART 10x10 straight leg EZ-UP Patio Canopy that will setup right next to my POPUP until I figure where to find a good replacement... These are in the $100 range

I have seen others do this when camping...

Presumably your current awning is a manual model so that by definition means that when you remove it you'll be left with holes that will have to be properly sealed as the mounting locations for a power awning will be entirely different. This in turn obviously means that if you have this job done by someone else you'd want to make sure they fully understood the need to do this correctly. FWIW, I had the reverse done - manual awning to replace a power awning, with the same issue.
