New battery box install almost complete

I am almost finished with my new battery box install. All I need to do is crimp and solder the lugs on the inter connect cable, and build the cables for the positive and negative sides of the battery.

  • how about hold down to keep from wearing threw battery case
  • Inmac23 ..I bought it from Lowes it was 170.00. I thought about the cut off but for the mosgt part I leave mine plugged in year round so no need. I am going to put in a couple of vent holes in the front tray. For the lid I was just foing to donate one of my old battery boxes and cut it up and glue it to the top of the lid, but I think I like the idea of the dip paint.
  • I was going to coat the inside with rubber paint for undercoating a vehicle
  • While these type of installs look great I often wonder how they will hold up to the corrosive "outgassing" that naturally occurs over the long haul.

  • That looks great. I was thinking of doing the same thing next year. Did you build the box your self or did you buy it. I wanted to put a battery cutoff on the box and a golf cart style meter went I do mine.
  • That looks like a familiar project! I just finished mine up a week or two ago. I'm gonna paint the lid of my box with some plastidip the next time it's nice and she's at home. It would take a hell of a bump though for the batteries to jump that high. Just to be safe though I laid a rubber mat over mine until I can spray the lid. Very nice job!!
  • It looks like the terminals come pretty close to the cover of the box. It may be overkill, but you might want to consider putting an insulator between the terminals and the cover.

    Looks real good!
  • That is not a bad idea. I still need to put the vents in as well.
  • You should drill a few weep holes in the bottom of the tool box. Expect water penetration into a forward-facing tool box when driving during a rain storm.
