IMO a great starter camper is the jayco x213.. Its light weight and has the front storage for bikes.
Additionally I have an 13 yr old and 6 yr old. I dont have bunks and need to use the couch and dinette for them.
You probably can find a used one cheaper then new. Don't know your financials..
We have a queen bed but a king would be a godsend..
