- TXicemanExplorer IIMake sure the dealer knows that you will not accept the trailer until everything is 100% at the PDI. After it is demonstrated and you have inspected the trailer for fit and finish, you will take delivery of the trailer and pay for it.
DO not take it is there is any things to be corrected. 100% or it is not acceptable.

what he said. Never assume they will fix something "later", get it fixed before you sign - Traveler_IIExplorerWe traded our last trailer on the one we have now. The dealer allowed us to pull the two of them next to each other and move our stuff. We stayed in the new one for two nights and tried everything to make sure all systems were working, well I did forget to try the winterizing system and yea it didn’t work. The point is take your time and check it out. We’re on our 5th RV in retirement and each one of them needed something fixed by the dealer.
- Reader1ExplorerAlso discuss and get a demonstration on winterizing. X3 on videotaping. Our daughter did that with her new TT and referred back to it a couple times. Make sure you know where the drain cap or valve for the fresh water tank is. When we went to fill our fresh water tank at the first campground we realized we did not have it. We looked all over and covered it with plastic wrap and rubber bands. When DH went to turn on the hot water heater, we found they had stored it in that compartment. The person filling next to us had a similar problem w/ water pouring out because they did could not find the valve.
- wannavolunteerFExplorertry everything out, and at very least make them demo everything, even if you think you know. I bought a new TT, and awning was a different brand. I went to use it 100 miles away from home and it didn't work like old one. I was lost.
- pitchExplorer IIYou will need about two hours. Make the salesman or tech demonstrate every system. We actually brought a video camera and taped good portion of our first walk though for future reference. Yep at first I was self conscious and felt foolish, but after about five seconds I got used to it.
- BumpyroadExplorerI videotaped my first walk thru.
bumpy - darsbenExplorer IIMAKE SURE that everything on the list functions. DO NOT PAY until everything works.
There are cases where the people payed and waited 90-120 days for the unit to be fixed. It is not isolated. This time of year the dealers are selling and the service department sometimes gets behind.
DO NOT believe the salesman's promises he wants the money. Once they have the money you are just another problem for the service department. You are no longer special (they got your money)
Besides if you are paying a note through the dealer you payments will start before the rig is delivered functioning and your warranty begins to run. Do you want the warranty to be running for a long time BEFORE you get the unit.
The salesman/dealer IS NOT your friend you are just the way he feeds his family - Heavy_Metal_DocExplorerShort answer: Everything!
Seriously.
The list linked above is excellent.
The walk trough is the time to pick out any defects, no matter how minor, and have them documented for warranty repair.
Take your time and maybe even have your own notepad / pen handy to write things down as you go so nothing gets forgotten.
We bought our first new TT less than 2 years ago and, while all the major mechanicals where fine, we had a half dozen little things we found -- window screen not seated right that turned out to be bent and had to be replaced, a window crank handle stripped off / slipping, a decal on the outside had the tiniest nick in it - got peeled off and replaced with whole new one. Window blinds with frayed strings hanging out got replaced. Loose trim around an interior door needed an additional screw put in....you get the idea. Good luck and enjoy it! - chiefneonExplorerHowdy!
Here is the PDI check list we used when we took delivery of ours last years.
