As I've said before, you will spend years loading up your camper with stuff, then years unloading all the stuff that you don't really need.
This is very much true. Set a rule in the beginning that if it hasn't been used for a full camping season, out it goes. This way, you won't get bogged down with stuff that isn't actually useful FOR YOU.
Also, when you're stocking things, think about WHY you have it. If your niece may travel with you one week a year, do you really need to stock her favorite movies? Or could you just add them during that once a year trip. Do you really need a teapot if you might have a cup of tea once a month? Or could you just heat the water in a pan for that one cup. If you will do both summer and winter activities, making a couple bins of weather specific items and trading them out each season will minimize the space needed at any one time.
And every year, I go through my cupboards reorganizing things and pulling out stuff that I haven't used in the past year.
Another thing to really think about before you spend the money are the storage bins, etc. Buy one and see how it works in your cupboards and compartments, etc. Try it out for a while and ask yourself - does it really make it easier to find/access what I need or is it just taking up valuable space? I found that the hard-sided bins were awkward and I had a lot more wasted space because of them. Now I use soft-sided packing cubes and find they work perfect for me.
