Newbie getting a head start.

I just started a thread on prices in a different forum here. Where I live diesel and gas are pretty much the same price.

The diesel vs. gasoline debate is an ongoing process.

Did you consider renting a Class C for a trip? That way you will get an idea of how they work and how the floor plan works for you.

The price difference between gas and diesel isn't the only thing to consider when buying a RV.

Take your time and enjoy the search. It's a learning process.
Maybe you will decide another type RV is best suited for you.

That's very interesting to say the least. Here (in Montreal) diesel is 5 cents a liter cheaper than regular gas. Seeing as I'm planning on doing most of my RVing in the States, I guess that settles the issue pretty well! Gasoline it is!

It's just that I hadn't come across any diesels in the used vehicle ads I've been looking at. (I'm certainly not trying to start anything!) but I would still be interested in hearing the pros and cons.

The primary reason for the available engine options in Class C's, as well as many other options, is simply customer demand. If the market place is asking for it loudly enough and waving money, manufacturers will supply it.

Brace yourself. Strong opinions on diesel vs gas on this forum, pros and cons for both but it boils down to personal preference.

Diesel used to be cheaper but now is pricier in most parts of the US. I've seen it cheaper in Atlantic Canada. Mileage will be better, engine will last longer, servicing may be more expensive.

There are quite a few smaller class C diesels built on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis. Winnebago View and its twin the Itasca Navion, Leisure Travel Unity, Coach House Platinum II, to name just a view.
