If you're buying from a dealer that does maintenance, have them do the basic maintenance for you. Oil and filter changes, check the transmission, rear end, and radiator fluids. Same for the generator. Clean the battery terminals, all of them.
Take a few basic tools with you including an air gauge.
If they can start the refer a day before you get there that would be good. Don't stuff the refer too full, the cool travels from the freezer down to the bottom. If the air can't circulate, the bottom won't get cold.
Use Gas Buddy to check fuel prices. Often the truck stops will be more expensive and crowded. If you have a Sam's Club or Costco membership, their fuel is usually cheapest, you can shop during the same stop and there's room for the kids to get out.
There are several RV apps for your phone

I don't think you'll need reservations unless over a holiday or in some of the more popular parks like on the Oregon and Washington coast. When you have an idea where you want to stay for the night, you should call before 3:00PM because some of the offices close at 5:00PM. In this case when you arrive, they'll have a board telling you where your reserved spot is for the night.
