OH -Boy....
The fact that you have been "camping" will greatly assist you in the start up and preparation.
First, while you are getting familiar with the coach, drive on the top half of the tank only.
Before you get very far, buy, beg or borrow a copy of Street Atlas (Delorme) get a GPS for it if you can and possibly a little inverter to run the laptop while you are underway. Learn to plan a route with SA as soon as you can. It can tell you where to plan to overnight (sleeping in your own bed with heat and indoor plumbing is NOT camping imho). It can also tell you where you will need to look for fuel.
Go to Discovery Owners and collect all the over lays for anything you might want. You will have to dig around on the web to find out how to load them, I won't have time here/now.
If your new coach is a self-contained, you will not need a "campground" many nights. Plan on about every third day for dumping the black tank (you may want to get assistance with this the first few times - get disposable gloves) and long hot showers.
Plan on overnighting at the indicated Walmarts as they are great places to provision and well as sleep. (I also bought a new laptop there once (mid-excursion failure).
If you have a smart phone, you will need a tether program or the hotspot app so you can run things underway. With a smartphone, you can also run GasBuddy. In the course of this excursion, that can save you the price of the data package. You can often save 0.20$/gal by buying fuel before or after you change states.
Now that you can expect to know about where EOD (end of day) will be, you can decide if you are going to "flat-spot" or try for a campground. On summer weekends in desirable areas a space in a campground can be hard to get. So do that on Thursday and blacktop on Friday and Saturday.
You will soon find that this is THE WAY to travel.
