Hi everyone. I,m new to this site. And to rv,ing. We just bought ought camper and haven,t been able to take her out on her maiden voyage. Looking forward to interacting with everyone. :)
Hubby and I never got around to doing our maiden voyage in our 20 foot travel trailer (just too busy). We did make sure we slept in it for one night to see if we needed to add anything (MEMORY FOAM toppers...oh yeah!).
So our maiden voyage ended up being four months in Florida (working and playing). While down there we organized her a bit and mad notes as to what we wanted to add, fix, etc.
X2 on camping out in the driveway - You just can't think of things you will need to have until "you" experience it... Don't cheat now - do it just like you would being camping away from the home port.
When you do finally get out on the road you can get any and all needs from WALMART and LOWES which will most likely be just down the road from where you will be. Also alot of camp grounds have a real nice CAMP STORE with lots of things you might need...
Welcome aboard and don't wait too long before you head out. We have our so called HOME CAMP GROUND just 20 miles away from us and this is where we go alot on a moments notice and especially if we have made some changes or additions and want to check things out...
I highly recommend "camping" in the driveway for a couple of nights with a yellow pad and pen. Write down what you forgot and a different list for what you didn't use, but that list will change as you start camping someplace other than your driveway. Make that first trip close to home. Even after you start to take longer trips, keep that yellow pad handy. Welcome to the lifestyle and the forum. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask. It was new to all of us at one time.
