Newbies beware-will make you cringe

My house was built in 1949. The road by my house has been paved at least 6 times in the 30 years I've lived here. There are curb edges to my driveway that go down into the ground. When I looked up the plat map for my taxes a few years back, I was on a slight hill about 2 feet above the road bed when the house was built. I am now below the road surface. When I finally found the manhole cover I was trying to find (it was supposed to be in my driveway but I'd never noticed it), myself and the sewer dept. employee looking for it had to dig down 4 feet. The sewer line was added in 1967.

I drove a truck many years ago. One thing an older driver told me was to not feel embarrassed to stop, get out and look for clearance. I got razzed at times but I never topped a truck.
