Outdoor Mats

We are new to RVing having purchased a little Starcraft 18RB HTT last fall (only got to use it once). We are starting to compile a list of things we need to get for it since we are traveling a lot this summer with it. I know that some campsites don't allow outdoor mats because of the grass, but I'm wondering what kind of outdoor carpet/mat you have gotten for your trailer?

We have looked at the "breathable" mats and friends of ours had interlocking rubber mats that allowed grass to grow and could be hosed off. I'm just wondering what you have and what we should be looking at.

TIA

  • In 9 seasons we have never had an outdoor mat and have gotten along just fine without one. Too big and bulky to store, messy to clean up to put away when leaving a campsite.
  • Walmart mat here too. In the rv accessories section of the store. They are functional, light, and come with a carry strap.
  • Mine is from Walmart. Get one that will allow sand and small particles of dirt to fall thru. I also use tent stakes on all four corners (want to know why I do that? lol)
  • Bought one. Used it so infrequently we threw it away. Note we tend to move a lot, not just sit in one spot. We travel, not park.
  • We use the reversible type (9X13) - bought ours at Costco. I've started carrying tent pegs with us and fold up what we don't need under the camper. This way we only use the mat on the gravel or ground and the grass is not touched to stop it from growing.

That's what I use and it seems to be holding up ok. However if I ever need a new one I'll have to look else where as I no longer shop Walmart because of their employment policies.
