Output power cord

I have a 95 jayco eagle tt and was wondering what type of power cord i will need to plug into a 30 amp campsite. I was looking online for power cords and got a little confused because i couldnt find any with a standard 110 plug on it. On the outside of my trailer it has a plug that looks exactly like you would plug into your house 110 outlets w/o ground.

  • OP, please look and see how many "prongs" your plug has and their orientation, if we can't get a picture .

Use a regular 12 gauge extension cord.

If not, post a picture of what you have and we will identify it for you.

walmart has a fairly reasonable 12 gauge cord. not in the RV area. if the OPs statement" On the outside of my trailer it has a plug that looks exactly like you would plug into your house 110 outlets w/o ground" it is not the standard 30 amp type hookup. I question the w/o however. only two flat connectors?

Many on the forum haven't been RVing long enough to remember when trailers only had a 15 amp service connection. I don't know what the OP's 1995 has but I have owned older trailers that were only 15 amp.

It seems like a 1995 would more likely be 30 amp but a picture of the OP's trailer would answer all the questions.

Of course there is no way of knowing what previous owners may have done to it in the last 20 years since new.

There is usually two ways the SHORE POWER CABLE works with the trailers.

One is a small door that opens on the outside of the trailer and you find the 30A Power Cord plug you can pull out for about 25-feet and plug into the camp ground ground 30A Power Pedestal

Your 30AMP Plug on the end of this cable will look something like this

Other trailer may have an 30AMP RECEPTACLE on their trailer to hook-up to and use a RV 30AMP Shore Power Cable 25-foot extension cable. The receptacle on the trailer will look something like this...

The RV 30AMP SHORE POWER 25-foot Extension Cord will have a TWIST LOCK 30AMP connector on the trailer end and the standard RV30AMP Plug on the camp ground pedestal end..

The camp 30AMP pedestal look something like this

A typical Camp Ground Pedestal is wired like this...

  • Your RV should have a cord attached and in a compartment outside. It will not look like a "standard" plug because it is a 30 amp RV plug. It will match the oulet at the campground.
  • Do you have something that looks like this?

Use a regular 12 gauge extension cord.

  • I had an older Jayco and the power cord was hard wired to trailer. It is in a small cabinet on the outside of the trailer. Find where your invertor is on the inside and the cord will be laying beside it. Sometime the cord fall thru the outer opening. My invertor was next to stove.
  • Do you have a power inlet that a cord connects to on the side of your trailer or do you have a hardwired shore power cord? Most RV's have a 30 amp TT-30P male plug on the end of a 10 AWG cord. Pedestals at campgrounds have the same TT-30R receptacle.
