Overnight stays on the interstates

We are a new class B owners taking our first cruise. We are driving FL to NY and going to do the trip in 2 nights, 3 days.

Are there places where we can pull in and hookup electrical for 12 hours? We don't need amenities, or a lake, or trees. Just a place to have dinner, walk the dog, and get a few hours of sleep and be gone by 5:00 AM.

Do these places exist? What are they called?
A rest stop with electrical hookup kind of thing.

Do truck plazas offer this?

Thanks

  • “Are there places where we can pull in and hookup electrical for 12 hours?”

Why would you need an electrical hook up for a 12 hour stop? Incredible. You bought the wrong RV. But since this RV is your RV, modify it to allow for this....minimal...dry camping.
  • Not with hookups, however there are "campgrounds" that cater to the north/southbounders.

Philly South KOA (formerly Timberlane) just off I-295 in Clarksboro NJ is ok for an overnight, although it now carries a KOA price.

We spent a couple of days at Carolina Crossroads just over the VA/NC border. They cater to the overnighter with a row of SWE sites that you can late checking to.

Honestly, if all you want is an overnight, hit a Walmart along the way and don't miss South of the Border.
  • Always,

    Basically, the answer is no.
I have never seen a highway rest stop with electric available. There are some on the Ohio TP that you can buy into, and there are 30+$ campgrounds in inconvenient places that will soon be closed for the winter.

Why do you need electricity for the overnight?
If it is for a PPAP, look up the kind that can run on 12V and get enough battery to do that.

Some truck stops do have electric hook-ups, but if you try to take up one of those, you are going to have some very annoyed drivers to deal with.

  • Nothing that I can think of in New Jersey, Assuming you will be coming up route 95.
I hope you don’t mean you are taking this trip now! It’s 32° by my house today that’s why I am spending the week down in Florida !
