I'm not a fan of timeshares either but the carte blanche "no's" in this thread need to consider that this is the Central CA Coast. Yes, I could camp there weeks per year every year if I still lived close enough to camp weekends there.
Have you tried getting a camping spot on the CA Coast in the summer? Plus it's 12 month camping and as noted has a process for selling. It sounds more like a fractional than time share.
If you know you like Pismo, biggest question is do you have disposable cash? If so, check out the legal particulars and talk to current owners, then sleep on it before making a decision.
EDIT: Big question: How easy is it to book a spot once you are a member? Do you have designated weeks plus float days? How far out to book? Eliminating this hassle would be part of the attraction for me. Condo Fractionals at Tahoe are set weeks plus floater weeks so you can know you have Christmas, Spring Break, etc.
