We like to stay at Walmart and also Flying J. I've heard some people stay at Cracker Barrel, Hospitals, etc. One time years ago we pulled into a truck weigh station in Colorado. I try to stay away from interstate rest areas.
I've heard someone else say that they are one of the worst places to stay as far as safety goes. I would have thought interstate rest areas would be okay. Anyone want to talk about their experiences at one or two of those? - JohnESExplorerWe like to stay at Walmart and also Flying J. There is a Cabela's in Hartford (my favorite as they are quiet and most have a dump and potable. You have Camp Wally's all over and the casino's in the south-east (New London and Mystic area). But I am a waterman from that area and I just go look for a boat yard. The family has had relations with so many, it is easy. During the season, there are always flat places available and sometimes you can get electric and potable. They really don't know how to pump out a gravity dump - however.

LOL! Thank you, Matt. I'm going to be a refugee too. I did a google search and found that there are Flying J's even up here! I think one in Danbury, one along the coast (think near New Haven or something) and one up by the Mass border. It gives me hope. Everyone needs a good place to dump. ;)
Thanks to the others who also commented on my posts. I love this thread. In just 2 weeks, I'll be fulltiming. I'm kind of anxious but it's mostly cause I have so much stuff to sell. - hotpepperkidExplorerThe first year we went for several months I didn't that sort of thing and then I say why the hell m I doing this. I made a new rule no more than 300 miles and no less than two days. After several year of being gone for 3-6 months it become more like 200 miles and some times I say a week, you get a better rate for a week

Matt - BillinwoodlandExplorerI try and anticipate my stops when planning a trip and research the site beforehand. But when I have to "wing" it, I use the rv parky app on my iphone, or freecampsites.net. I have found some real hidden gems doing this, and each site usually has a rating and other camper comments.
- catkinsExplorer IIThere's an APP for that. Flying Js and Loves have phone apps for finding locations as do other service providers. Flying Js abound all over the country.
