You can still have a great time in the rain (or snow), We have a cabinet full of puzzles, cards, board games, and even a fully charged PSP for video games for when its pouring. Outside the awning will keep you dry in all but torrential storms, set up the picnic table and grill under there and have a fine time.
Our new 26' rig with it's 20' awning is HUGE, can fit the whole camp site under there, but we managed to fit the grill, table, and chairs under the 10' one on our old 16' rig.
One of our favorite trips, Custer, SD, 24* and snowing (the day after photo), grilled out under the awning, even had a roof leak when the snow melted off, still one of our most favorite trips.:
